Coors Premium was the beer up until November 1989 or 1990. I remember this because there was a big promotion at the opening of the RMPRA Winter Rodeo in Ogden, Utah. Banquet was replacing the Premium as the brew ingredients were changing. That being that Premium used rice, while Banquet would use corn. At least that was what we were told. Still like Premium more. Coors Light is said to still use some rice.

Yeah, that was back in the days when you couldn't buy Coors east of the Mississippi. Premium was by far the BEST beer.

Absolutely was the best. When we started seeing "Banquet" on the shelf, back in the '80's, I quit drinking it.
